Nationwide Recall of Holiday Sweets by Silvestri Sweets Inc.
Silvestri Sweets Inc., based in Geneva, Illinois, has expanded its voluntary recall of two varieties of “Choceur” branded “Holiday Barks” due to potential safety concerns. This recall, announced on December 4, 2023, affects products distributed across the United States.
The recalled items include both the “Milk Chocolate Holiday Bark” and the “Dark Chocolate Holiday Bark.” According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), these products may contain undeclared allergens, specifically tree nuts, which could pose a serious risk to consumers with nut allergies.
Consumers are advised to check their pantries for the affected products, which were sold in 12-ounce packages. The packaging includes a UPC code of 081883063047 for the milk chocolate variety and 081883063054 for the dark chocolate option. Both items were available at Aldi stores nationwide, and anyone who has purchased these products is encouraged to return them for a full refund.
Silvestri Sweets Inc. initiated this recall in response to consumer feedback and proactive quality assurance processes. The company emphasizes its commitment to food safety and consumer health, stating that it takes such matters seriously.
As of now, no adverse health effects have been reported in connection with the recalled products. However, the company urges customers to refrain from consuming the affected items and to contact their customer service department for further information.
This incident highlights the importance of vigilance in food safety, especially during the holiday season when many consumers purchase specialty items for celebrations. The FDA continues to monitor the situation and provides updates as necessary.
Consumers are reminded to stay informed about recalls and safety alerts through official channels, ensuring that they protect themselves and their families during festivities.
