A tragic incident occurred in Turkey when a 15-year-old apprentice, Muhammed Kendirci, died after his co-workers allegedly inserted a high-pressure air hose into his rectum as a “prank.” The event took place on Friday at a woodworking center in Sanliurfa, where Kendirci was subjected to severe internal injury that ultimately led to his death five days later.

According to local outlet Milliyet, the incident unfolded when Kendirci was overpowered by his co-worker, Habip Aksoy, and another individual. They reportedly tied his hands, forcibly removed his pants, and inserted an air compressor tube into his anus. The pressure from the high-powered air hose resulted in catastrophic damage to his internal organs. Following the incident, Kendirci was immediately taken to Harran University Research and Application Hospital, but despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries.

In the wake of the incident, Aksoy was initially arrested and subsequently released on probation. He was later detained again, though the specific charges against him remain unclear. This disturbing act of violence is not isolated; it is part of a troubling trend involving high-pressure hoses in similar incidents that have led to fatalities in recent years.

Pattern of Deadly Pranks

The use of high-pressure air hoses in dangerous pranks has resulted in tragic outcomes in other parts of the world as well. In 2023, a 16-year-old boy named Motilal Sahu died in India after a co-worker inserted a compressed air hose into his rectum “for fun” at a factory in Hadapsar. The perpetrator, Dheerajsingh Goud, inflicted severe internal injuries that led to Sahu’s collapse and eventual death.

In a similar case from 2017, a 17-year-old car wash worker, Wesner Moreira da Silva, died after colleagues blasted a high-pressure air hose into his anus, resulting in the explosion of his intestines. The individuals responsible, Thiago Giovanni Demarco Sena and Willian Enrique Larrea, were later convicted of rape and murder and sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.

These incidents highlight a disturbing trend where what may begin as a cruel joke can escalate into fatal outcomes. The misuse of equipment designed for industrial purposes poses serious risks, and the consequences can be tragic, not only for the victims but also for the perpetrators and their communities.

The case of Muhammed Kendirci serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers associated with reckless behavior and the need for stricter regulations regarding workplace safety, particularly in environments where young individuals are employed. As investigations continue, the focus remains on preventing such horrific acts from recurring in the future.
