Serial Slasher Strikes Again in Brooklyn; Police Seek Suspect
UPDATE: Authorities are urgently searching for a serial slasher who has carried out three unprovoked attacks in Brooklyn within just 24 hours. The NYPD has released surveillance images of the suspect, following a spree of random knife assaults that left three victims injured.
The first incident occurred on October 15, 2023, around 6:30 a.m., when the suspect cut a 37-year-old man on the left side of the face aboard a Manhattan-bound Q train near the Church Ave. subway stop in Flatbush. The victim managed to alert authorities after exiting the train, while the attacker remained on board until the next station, police sources report.
In a shocking escalation, the suspect attacked two more individuals later that evening. At approximately 9:40 p.m., he slashed a 53-year-old man near Foster and New York Avenues, a mile and a half from the initial attack. Just hours later, around 6:55 a.m. on October 16, 2023, he struck again, targeting a 56-year-old man only a block away from the previous incident, near Newkirk Ave. and New York Avenues.
All three victims were transported to Kings County Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition, as police ramp up their search for the assailant.
The NYPD has described the suspect as wearing a navy blue jacket, black shorts, and white sneakers. Officers are currently canvassing the Flatbush area, hoping for leads from the community.
The string of attacks comes just days after another violent incident on the subway, where a man was stabbed during a confrontation aboard a D train. The earlier attack raised alarm about safety on public transport, making this latest series of random slashes even more concerning.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the serial slasher to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All tips will remain confidential as police work diligently to apprehend the suspect and restore safety to the transit system.
As this story develops, the community is on high alert, and the urgency to find the assailant has never been more critical. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing investigation.
