UPDATE: Major accessibility concerns have erupted as social media influencer Kevin Ortiz confronts the San Francisco 49ers over ADA seating challenges at Levi’s Stadium. The issue came to light during a recent game against the Atlanta Falcons, intensifying scrutiny on the stadium’s provisions for wheelchair users.

Ortiz, who is on a mission to visit every NFL stadium this season, revealed his struggle to secure ADA seating at Levi’s Stadium, highlighting that most accessible seats are reserved for season ticket holders and frequently resold at exorbitant prices. “I know I had this issue, but I did have an amazing time. Shoutout to Levi’s because they did end up getting me seats,” Ortiz stated after eventually finding a spot. However, he expressed concern for individuals without a significant social media following, explaining, “The normal person probably would have gotten the pushback from the first person and had just left.”

In a bid to attend games smoothly, Ortiz typically purchases a regular ticket and attempts to exchange it for ADA accommodation on game day—a method that worked at ten other stadiums. Unfortunately, this approach failed at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers informed KRON4 that ADA seating exchanges are reviewed approximately one week in advance, complicating last-minute arrangements for fans needing accessible seating.

Ortiz advocates for better practices, insisting that a portion of ADA seats should be held for same-day requests, ideally on a first-come, first-served basis. “As far as the ADA seating, I think that it should be something where they do hold a certain amount of seats for the day of,” he emphasized.

His experiences are documented on Instagram, where he shares the ongoing accessibility challenges faced by wheelchair users. Ortiz’s visit to Levi’s Stadium has spotlighted the broader issues surrounding ADA seating, with reports indicating that some tickets are being resold for over $1,000.

In response to Ortiz’s advocacy and the growing public concern, the 49ers have acknowledged the problem and are currently in discussions with affected families to enhance accessibility for future seasons. “People in this world with all shapes and sizes, with all types of disabilities that want to go to these events that have the money to spend and want to see these games, I just hope they have an adequate amount of seats,” Ortiz added, stressing the importance of equal access for all fans.

Community engagement and responsiveness are critical as the 49ers move forward to address these pressing issues. The urgency surrounding ADA seating at Levi’s Stadium exemplifies a significant challenge faced by many sporting venues today. As discussions continue, all eyes will be on how the 49ers implement changes ahead of the upcoming season, ensuring that all fans can enjoy the game without barriers.
