Saquon Barkley Hosts Hurdles for Hope Gala to Aid Families
UPDATE: On November 1, Eagles star Saquon Barkley will host the Hurdles for Hope Gala at the Philadelphia Art Museum, aiming to raise $250,000 for under-resourced families. This urgent initiative, driven by Barkley’s personal experiences, is set to empower youth facing significant life challenges.
Barkley, known for his on-field prowess, is passionately addressing the struggles that many families endure. “Sometimes, you gotta keep it simple. Worry about the things that matter the most,” he stated. His foundation, the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Hope Foundation, seeks to provide hope and opportunities to youth, reflecting the compassion he received growing up.
Barkley’s journey is deeply personal; he experienced food insecurity and homelessness with his family. “We became homeless. We were staying with friends and family,” shared his parents, Tonya Johnson and Alibay Barkley. Their story underscores the importance of community support and the motivation behind the gala.
The funds raised will go towards critical programs such as scholarships for student athletes and the provision of stable housing. “Provide hope, especially to the youth, and just give them opportunities to have a change and impact on their lives,” Barkley emphasized, highlighting the gala’s mission to break barriers for those in need.
As anticipation builds for this impactful event, the community is encouraged to participate in making a difference. For tickets and additional details, CLICK HERE.
