URGENT UPDATE: A frost advisory has just been issued for several counties in Pennsylvania, effective this Friday from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. The National Weather Service warns residents of Franklin, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York, and Lancaster counties to prepare for temperatures dipping into the 30s, leading to potential frost formation.

The advisory signals that sensitive outdoor vegetation may be at risk and could suffer significant damage if left uncovered. The weather service cautions that “frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation,” and urges those with agricultural interests to take immediate action to protect their plants.

Residents are advised to cover sensitive plants before sunset tonight to help retain heat or, if feasible, move them indoors. The coldest temperatures are expected in valley locations and sheltered rural areas, creating a heightened risk for a damaging frost, which could be severe enough to end the growing season.

Frost advisories are typically issued from May to October when conditions are favorable for frost development, especially when temperatures fall to 36 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. As this advisory unfolds, local farmers and gardeners should act quickly to safeguard their crops and gardens.

Stay tuned for further updates from the National Weather Service as conditions develop. Share this information with friends and family to help protect your community’s gardens and agricultural interests!
