UPDATE: A 23-year-old man from Tamaqua has been charged with indecent assault following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a 6-year-old child in 2019. Authorities confirmed that Dale E. Rehrig was charged on Monday after a report surfaced in December 2025, triggering an urgent investigation.

The allegations came to light when police received a ChildLine report about the assault. The victim’s mother revealed to authorities that she had only recently learned of the incident, prompting immediate action. She reported that Rehrig allegedly touched the child’s private parts and forced the child to reciprocate.

Police engaged with the victim, who recounted a disturbing encounter where he and Rehrig were alone in a room. The child stated that Rehrig touched him inappropriately and compelled him to do the same. Following this, police reached out to Rehrig in January. Initially, he denied the allegations; however, during later questioning, he confessed to the inappropriate touching, labeling it as “curiosity,” according to police reports.

Rehrig now faces two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault against a person under 13, in addition to a charge of indecent exposure. A preliminary hearing is set for April 14 before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer in Tamaqua.

This case highlights the pressing need for vigilance and reporting in child safety matters. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on alert, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from such incidents.
