In a high-scoring showdown, the San Jose Sharks secured a thrilling 7-5 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at the SAP Center on March 15, 2024. The game featured a dramatic comeback as the Sharks, after relinquishing a three-goal lead, pulled ahead once more thanks to timely contributions from their key players.

Kiefer Sherwood made his mark with a crucial goal, netting the first in his Sharks career with just 3:23 left in regulation. This goal proved pivotal as it helped the Sharks maintain their lead and marked a moment of celebration as Sherwood rallied the enthusiastic crowd of 17,435 fans. With this victory, the Sharks improved their record to 30-25-4, extending their winning streak to three games.

Macklin Celebrini was also instrumental in the win, contributing one goal and three assists, bringing his season tally to 30 goals. His performance exemplified the Sharks’ offensive prowess, particularly during a stretch in the second period when they scored four consecutive goals.

The scoring frenzy began with Michael Misa, who notched his third goal in as many games, lifting the Sharks to a 3-2 lead at the 18:23 mark of the second period. Following Celebrini’s goal, Alex Wennberg added another just 25 seconds later, assisted by Sherwood, marking his first point since joining the team. Will Smith capped off the scoring surge with a power-play goal, giving the Sharks a commanding 5-2 lead.

Despite the Sharks’ strong performance, the Canadiens mounted a fierce comeback. Ivan Demidov and Alex Newhook scored within 18 seconds of each other, narrowing the gap to 5-4. Newhook’s goal, assisted by Brendan Gallagher during a power play, equalized the score at 5-5 with 10:56 left in the third period.

With the game hanging in the balance, the Sharks displayed resilience. Sherwood’s late goal, followed by an additional score from Will Smith, ensured the Sharks would emerge victorious.
