Local Photographer Marc Brannan Showcases Art at OzSBI Now
UPDATE: Local photographer Marc Brannan is currently showcasing his stunning photography at the Ozarks Small Business Incubator (OzSBI) in West Plains, Missouri. This exhibition, which runs until the end of March, is part of an exciting partnership with the West Plains Council on the Arts to bring local art to the community.
The exhibit is open to the public during OzSBI business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. This is a unique opportunity for art lovers and community members to immerse themselves in Brannan’s work, which beautifully captures the essence of the Ozarks and beyond.
Brannan, a resident of West Plains, grew up near Willow Springs and has a deep passion for historical and nature photography. His collection aims to preserve the legacy of disappearing landmarks, including one-room schoolhouses that hold personal significance due to his mother’s experiences.
“I have always enjoyed the stories of my mom attending one-room schools when she was a kid,” Brannan explained. “I think that is a big reason I seek them out to photograph today. I love incorporating them into my landscape photography as much as I can, especially as a way of preserving their history.”
In addition to historical structures, Brannan’s portfolio showcases a range of subjects, including nature, wildlife, and astral photography. “I have focused more on bringing the art out in my pictures, taking a simple pic and showing the viewer that there is so much more around us than we typically take time to see,” he added.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR: A public reception is scheduled for March 11, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the OzSBI lobby, located at 408 Washington Ave. This event presents a fantastic chance for attendees to meet Brannan in person and engage in discussions about his captivating pieces.
