Wyomissing Police Address 21 Incidents on February 15
On February 15, 2024, the Wyomissing Police Department managed a total of 21 incidents, ranging from traffic stops to service calls. The department’s incident report reflects a busy day for officers responding to various situations, including multiple vehicle crashes and numerous traffic citations.
Traffic Stops and Citations
The first notable incident occurred at approximately 01:00 when officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 12 at Route 422. Police observed a vehicle allegedly failing to maintain its lane, leading to the driver being issued a citation. Throughout the day, additional traffic stops were carried out, including one at Penn Avenue and Berks Place shortly after midnight for expired registration, which resulted in a warning. Another stop took place at Spring Street and Crossing Drive due to an alleged stop sign violation, also resulting in a warning.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
The department reported several motor vehicle accidents on the same day. At around 18:50, officers were dispatched to State Hill Road at Berkshire Square where a two-vehicle collision occurred. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and both drivers exchanged information. Later, police responded to another two-vehicle crash at Route 422 and North Wyomissing Boulevard. This incident took place under rainy conditions, and while both drivers provided differing accounts of the collision, again, no injuries were reported.
In addition to these incidents, police received reports about reckless driving along Route 222 and Route 422, but by the time officers arrived, the callers had stopped following the vehicles.
Other service calls included a suspicious person complaint on Old Mill Road regarding a male walking in the roadway. Officers also responded to a report of a confused elderly female on Inverness Court and investigated a suspicious vehicle parked on Old Mill Road, where the occupant declined to speak with police.
Officers took action to address malfunctioning traffic lights at the intersection of Old Mill Road and Museum Road, notifying utility crews for repairs. Additionally, police alerted PP&L after observing sparking and hearing crackling noises from a power line on Spring Street.
The police department also managed noise complaints on Park Road North and multiple 911 hang-up calls. One report involved a vehicle accident on Route 422; however, officers found the vehicle was no longer present upon arrival, leading to the incident being deemed unfounded.
Authorities confirmed that all incidents remain under investigation where applicable. As a reminder, all suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
