Olympic Village Runs Out of Condoms: 10,000 Depleted in 3 Days
URGENT UPDATE: The 2026 Winter Olympic Village in Milan has run out of condoms after athletes consumed nearly 3,000 in just three days. This surprising development has sparked conversations about athlete well-being and safe sex practices during the Games.
An anonymous athlete revealed the shocking shortage to the Italian newspaper La Stampa on February 13, 2026, stating, “The supplies ran out in just three days. They promised us more will arrive, but who knows when.” The athlete criticized the organizers for providing a significantly lower number of condoms compared to previous Olympics, with less than 10,000 available for all competitors.
This contrast is stark when compared to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, where athletes received 300,000 condoms — roughly two per day for each participant. The decision to provide limited supplies at the Winter Games has raised eyebrows and concerns about health and safety among the athletes.
Earlier this month, Canadian ice dancer Olivia Smart shared a TikTok video offering a glimpse into the Olympic Village, highlighting the availability of condoms and other essentials. “You can find them in the space where the air weave beds are,” she noted, emphasizing the Village’s resources for athletes.
Attilio Fontana, the president of the Lombardy region, took to social media to confirm the provision of free condoms, stating, “Yes, we provide free condoms to athletes in the Olympic Village… It began in Seoul 1988 to raise awareness among athletes about sexually transmitted disease prevention.” His comments highlight the ongoing commitment to safe sex practices at the Games.
The lack of supplies has ignited discussions about the logistics surrounding athlete care. With the high-pressure environment of the Olympics, where athletes are expected to perform at their peak, concerns about sexual health are paramount. The shortage not only impacts the athletes’ immediate needs but also raises questions about the adequacy of health resources available during such a significant global event.
As the situation develops, many are left wondering when the next shipment of condoms will arrive and how organizers will handle the growing demand. Athletes and fans alike are closely watching this issue, with implications for health policies and practices in future Olympic events.
Expect further updates as this story unfolds. The Olympic Village has always been known for its vibrant atmosphere, but this unexpected shortage has taken many by surprise, leading to urgent calls for better planning and resources in the future.
