Major Recall of Chocolate Bars Over Salmonella Concerns

Several flavors of chocolate bars have been recalled across the United States due to potential salmonella contamination, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Thursday. The recall, initiated by the candy manufacturer Spring & Mulberry, began on Tuesday after testing revealed that a single batch of their Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate bars may have been affected.

The company has since expanded the recall to include additional flavors and lot codes. According to Spring & Mulberry, the affected products have been on the market since September 15, 2025. While there have been no confirmed cases of illness linked to the consumption of these chocolate bars, the potential health risks associated with salmonella prompted the precautionary measure.

Details of the Recall

The FDA’s involvement in the recall comes as part of a collaborative effort with Spring & Mulberry to ensure consumer safety. In their statement, the company explained, “Because salmonella can be difficult to detect and may appear intermittently, we are now expanding the recall beyond Mint Leaf in consultation with the FDA to include additional production lots made during the same time period on the same equipment.” They emphasized that all other lot codes remain unaffected by this recall.

Consumers who have purchased the affected chocolate bars are advised to dispose of them immediately. For those seeking a refund or replacement, Spring & Mulberry has established a contact method: customers can email [email protected], including a photograph of the lot code found on the packaging.

This recall underscores the importance of stringent food safety practices and the role of regulatory agencies in protecting public health. The FDA continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that any further developments are communicated promptly to the public.

As this situation unfolds, customers are urged to stay informed and follow the guidance provided by both the company and the FDA.
