Liberty Bell Tops Toledo in Competitive Basketball Clash

In a closely contested match on January 6, 2024, the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions defeated the Toledo Riverhawks 67-57 at Kittitas High School. Despite a strong performance from Toledo, they were unable to secure a victory, marking a tough road trip for the team.

Toledo entered the game with determination, aiming to improve upon their previous experience at state last year. Head coach Grady Fallon emphasized the importance of facing tough competition, stating, “That’s why we scheduled Liberty Bell.” The Riverhawks stayed competitive throughout, tying the game at 45 points entering the final quarter.

The fourth quarter proved pivotal, as Bodie Thomson of Liberty Bell took charge. He scored three of his seven three-pointers during this crucial period, ultimately finishing the game with a staggering 33 points. His performance was instrumental in securing the victory for Liberty Bell.

On the other side, Cooper Fallon led the Riverhawks with 29 points, in addition to grabbing 17 rebounds and blocking six shots. His impressive stats showcased his all-around capability on the court. Teammate Trevin Gale also contributed significantly, scoring 15 points while adding nine rebounds and four assists.

Toledo’s lineup included key contributions from Conner Hill, who scored eight points, and Eli Weeks, who tallied five points along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Joaquin Acosta chipped in with five rebounds and four assists, rounding out a solid team effort.

With this loss, Toledo now holds a record of 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the Central 2B League. The Riverhawks will look to rebound as they return home to host Morton-White Pass on Tuesday, aiming to maintain their strong standing in the league.
