Family Reviews Singapore Airlines Business Class After 13-Hour Flight
UPDATE: A family has just shared their experience flying Singapore Airlines’ business class on a demanding 13-hour overnight flight from Copenhagen to Singapore. Their insights reveal both the highs and lows of this luxurious travel option, sparking interest among frequent flyers and families alike.
Flying with a 7-year-old son, the family prioritized comfort, opting for business class using 80,000 points per person through Air Canada’s Aeroplan program. The cost? Just over $300 out of pocket, compared to a staggering potential fare of over $15,000 for three passengers.
As they boarded the Airbus A350-900, the family was immediately impressed by the spacious seats, measuring around 28 inches wide. These seats provided ample room for relaxation and organization, essential for parents managing their child’s needs. The thoughtful design included numerous compartments for storing headphones, snacks, and devices, making the travel experience smoother.
The entertainment system earned high praise, with options easily accessible via the seatback screen or a pull-out remote. The family enjoyed complimentary noise-canceling headphones, allowing them to immerse themselves in movies without interruption.
Food was another standout feature of their journey. The family savored a variety of meals, including a flavorful stuffed chicken and tender oriental-style braised beef cheek. They highlighted the unique “anytime” menu, which allowed them to order snacks and meals outside of formal meal service, ensuring their son could eat whenever he needed.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Converting the seat into a bed proved cumbersome, requiring the family to stand while a flight attendant flipped the seat over. Once transformed, the bed’s firm surface left something to be desired, especially for those with back issues. The angled footwell also presented a challenge, forcing adults into a diagonal position while their son found comfort in the nook.
Despite these drawbacks, the family concluded that the business class experience was worth the points spent. They emphasized that while they wouldn’t pay full price for the flight due to the seating issues, the overall quality of service, wide seats, and fantastic meals made the trip manageable, particularly with a child in tow.
Ultimately, arriving in Singapore rested and ready to explore proved to be the ultimate payoff of their journey. As families consider air travel options, this account underscores the importance of balancing comfort, cost, and convenience in long-haul flights.
