UPDATE: The highly anticipated 19th annual Coaches Choice USA Staten Island vs. New Jersey Challenge is set to unfold this Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Moore Catholic in Graniteville, starting at 11 AM. Basketball fans should prepare for an exciting day featuring five thrilling match-ups that promise to deliver intense competition and showcase remarkable talent.

This year’s event features a special twist: the second game of the day will see Staten Island Academy face off against Bound Brook, with both teams led by former Jaques Award winners. Sandy Litkenhaus, who received the Jaques Award after the 1986-87 season, will be making her debut as head coach of SIA. Meanwhile, Jen Derenjanik, a remarkable three-time Jaques winner from 1998-2000, is in her twelfth season coaching Bound Brook.

This event has been organized with the support of former Islander and St. John Villa varsity coach James Martinos, ensuring that the tradition continues to thrive.

The full line-up for Sunday’s challenge includes:
Tottenville vs. Spotswood at 11 AM
SIA vs. Bound Brook at 12:30 PM
Notre Dame Academy vs. Mount St. Mary at 2:05 PM
St. Joseph by-the-Sea vs. East Brunswick at 3:45 PM
Moore Catholic vs. Snyder at 5:20 PM
