Michigan Tight End Marlin Klein Declares for 2026 NFL Draft
Marlin Klein, a standout tight end from the University of Michigan, has officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, as reported by ESPN. Standing at 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 250 pounds, Klein aims to showcase his skills on professional football’s biggest stage after a noteworthy collegiate career.
In the 2025 season, Klein experienced a mix of highs and lows, highlighted by his best performance to date. He recorded 24 receptions for 248 yards and one touchdown throughout the season. The campaign began with promise, as he achieved a career-high six catches for 93 yards and the opening touchdown in Week 1 against a formidable opponent. However, injuries hampered his performance in subsequent weeks, contributing to a less prolific second half of the season.
Klein’s journey was particularly challenging due to lower body injuries that sidelined him during pivotal moments. He missed a crucial loss against Oklahoma in Week 2 and another game against Washington in mid-October. Despite these setbacks, he managed to contribute in Michigan’s final match against Texas, finishing with four catches for 39 yards before exiting early due to a helmet-to-helmet hit.
Having played in 35 games with 12 starts, Klein developed under the guidance of coaches Grant Newsome and Steve Casula. His leadership qualities shone through as he was elected captain by his teammates and recognized as an All-Big Ten honorable mention by both coaches and media.
Klein’s international background adds an interesting layer to his narrative. Hailing from Cologne, Germany, he has often been viewed as a raw talent, yet his dedication and versatility have caught the attention of NFL scouts. He stated, “The NFL is getting an explosive player that can do whatever is asked of him – play special teams, run block, and catch the ball and someone who is not going to complain about his usage. They are getting a player that’s willing to die for his teammates,” according to ESPN.
As Klein embarks on his professional journey, the Michigan Wolverines’ tight end room is set to include players such as Hogan Hansen, Deakon Tonielli, Zack Marshall, and Brady Prieskorn, all of whom will prepare for the upcoming season while also welcoming incoming freshman Matt Bonner.
With his impressive skill set and leadership experience, Marlin Klein is poised to make a significant impact in the NFL, continuing Michigan’s legacy as a breeding ground for tight end talent. The announcement of his draft declaration marks a pivotal moment in his career as he transitions from college football to the professional arena.
