14-Year-Old Alby Churven’s Y Combinator Application Goes Viral
UPDATE: In a stunning turn of events, **14-year-old Alby Churven’s** Y Combinator application has gone **viral**, garnering attention across social media platforms. Churven, the founder of **Clovr**, a vibecoding startup, shared his journey and the unique challenges he faces as a young entrepreneur.
Speaking with **Business Insider**, Churven described how his age provides a distinct “wow factor,” but also poses challenges to his credibility. “The benefits of starting young is that you don’t have as much pressure on you financially, so you can just build things,” he explained. However, he acknowledged that being a teenager can limit how seriously others take him in the business world.
Churven’s entrepreneurial journey began at just **12 years old** when he launched an e-commerce grip socks brand called **Alpha Grips**. Although that venture failed, it sparked his interest in business. He later applied to Y Combinator with his new idea, **Finkel**, after receiving advice from prominent local founder **Frank Greeff**. Greeff encouraged Churven to build in public on social media, which played a crucial role in his startup’s growth.
His Y Combinator application went viral after he shared a video of himself applying on **November 10, 2025**, which deviated from the typical format. Churven’s creative approach caught the attention of many, leading to a surge of interest in his startup journey.
However, recent developments in Australia have posed a challenge for Churven and other young entrepreneurs. A new social media ban for individuals under **16** threatens to limit his ability to connect and build his brand online. “I don’t agree with it, but it is what it is,” he stated, highlighting the urgency of navigating this new landscape.
Churven remains optimistic about his future in tech and startups. “I’ve got time,” he asserted, emphasizing his goal of building as many projects as possible. Despite facing challenges in securing funding, he is determined to learn and grow. “I think grants are a really good opportunity,” he noted, recognizing the importance of maintaining equity as he develops his ventures.
As Churven continues to make strides in the tech world, he aims to leverage his youth to foster connections and gain experience. While he acknowledges the skepticism that can accompany his age, he remains focused on his passion for entrepreneurship.
