Kenneth Walker Shines in Seahawks’ Victory Over Rams
The Seattle Seahawks secured a crucial win against the Los Angeles Rams, with star running back Kenneth Walker playing a pivotal role in the team’s comeback. Early in the third quarter, Walker electrified the crowd with a stunning 55-yard touchdown run, marking his first touchdown since the teams last met in November and his longest run since 2023. This play not only put the Seahawks ahead but also ignited the momentum needed for their victory.
Reflecting on the moment, Walker stated, “It was like a relief. It always feels good to score, but scoring a long touchdown, it feels a little bit different,” in an interview with Field Gulls. He described how the play unfolded unexpectedly, allowing him to seize the opportunity. Walker’s impressive run was a key factor in the Seahawks’ resilience, propelling them to the top seed in the NFC.
As the Seahawks prepare for their upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers on December 28, 2024, Walker emphasizes the importance of maintaining focus. This season represents a significant moment in his career, as he is on track to play the most games in a single season since joining the team. After facing injuries that sidelined him for six games in 2024, Walker has prioritized his health.
“I feel as good as you can feel at this point of the season. I’ve been taking care of my body well, I feel great,” Walker shared. He is determined not to take his health for granted, stating, “The injuries that I went through last year just help me not take anything for granted.”
The Seahawks’ current position marks a remarkable turnaround from last season, where they fell short of playoff contention. Walker noted that the previous year’s disappointment has instilled a renewed focus within the locker room. “This year we really like just locked in more,” he explained. “We know how it feels like not being able to make the playoffs last year.”
Walker has developed strong relationships with teammates across the roster, particularly bonding with rookie Coby Bryant, who he calls one of his closest friends on the team. Their camaraderie reflects the supportive environment within the Seahawks, a sentiment echoed by quarterback Sam Darnold.
In a lighter moment during the Rams game, the Seahawks mascot, Blitz, made headlines by debuting a new set of teeth from Oral-B, which was part of Walker’s interview sponsorship. Walker expressed his surprise at the mascot’s new look, describing it as “crazy” yet “cool to see.” He emphasized the importance of dental hygiene in his daily routine, crediting the Oral-B iO series toothbrush for helping him maintain a healthy smile.
As the Seahawks gear up for their clash with the Panthers, Walker remains focused on the goal of securing the top spot in the NFC. The upcoming match presents an opportunity for the team to solidify their position and extend their winning streak. The game is set to kick off at 10:00 a.m. in Carolina, with Walker and his teammates eager to demonstrate their commitment to achieving playoff success.
