Musician Carlos Suarez Survives Electric Shock During Performance
A severe electric shock interrupted a live performance by musician Carlos Suarez in Lima, Peru, resulting in injuries that could have had fatal consequences. While entertaining a crowded audience, the artist, known for his role in the group Mi Major Amigo Scott, was electrocuted by his own microphone. Audience members screamed “the current, the current” as they witnessed the alarming incident unfold.
According to reports, a quick-thinking sound engineer and fellow band member acted swiftly to prevent further injury by unplugging the microphone cable from the electrical source. Carlos was subsequently transported to a nearby medical facility, where he was diagnosed with first-degree burns.
Disturbing video footage, which has circulated online, shows Carlos seizing up on stage as the electric shock immobilized him for nearly ten seconds. He ultimately collapsed, knocking over musical equipment in the process. Fellow musicians rushed to his aid, and the footage captures the immediate chaos that ensued as Carlos lay still before convulsing from the electrical discharge.
In a message on Instagram several hours later, Carlos reassured his fans, stating, “What happened could have had fatal consequences. But I am okay health-wise. I have a couple of burns on my neck but no other complications, thankfully.” He elaborated on the incident, explaining, “When I plugged my guitar into the amplifier, I touched the microphone and received an electric shock that paralyzed me for about seven seconds.”
He continued, “All I could do was scream and fall to the floor, where I continued to be electrocuted. That was when the microphone fell onto my neck and caused two first-degree burns, which fortunately were superficial.”
Despite the ordeal, Carlos expressed gratitude for his recovery, stating, “I was conscious throughout, and although I was in shock, I was able to get back up onto my feet afterwards.” During his Instagram message, he displayed the bandage around his neck and announced a temporary hiatus from live performances for his recovery.
This terrifying incident highlights the potential dangers of live musical performances, where electrical equipment must be handled with extreme caution. As fans continue to express their concern and support for Carlos Suarez, the musician remains hopeful for a swift and full recovery.
