This recognition marks a historic moment as it is the first time in 96 years that an officer from the El Monte Police Department has received this esteemed honor.

Rojas has been celebrated for his unwavering commitment to community engagement, demonstrating a proactive and compassionate approach to policing. Chief Jake Fisher praised Rojas, stating, “He is completely dedicated to his job,” emphasizing his role as the Corporal of Community Relations and his innovative strategies to strengthen ties with local schools, businesses, and residents.

The Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County (POALAC) recognized Rojas for fostering public trust and cooperation within the community. “His presence and willingness to engage have built a culture of compassion throughout El Monte,” officials noted in their announcement.

Rojas’ initiatives, including the Christmas Holiday Toy Giveaway, Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, and National Night Out, exemplify his dedication to connecting families and youth with law enforcement. His efforts have significantly impacted community safety and relationships.

In addition to Rojas’ accolade, the El Monte Police Department celebrated another important recognition. Volunteer Jane Ellis was honored for her 18 years of service in the city’s Volunteers Caring and Patrolling Program (VCAP).
