Cape Cod Estate Near Kennedy Compound Lists for $21.5 Million
A prestigious estate adjacent to the iconic Kennedy Compound in Cape Cod has been listed for $21.5 million, marking it as the most expensive active property in the area. Located at 151 and 155 Irving Avenue, this expansive estate spans 3 acres and features a main house, a guesthouse, and private access to a sandy beach.
According to Boston.com, the estate boasts a rich history linked to the Kennedy family, which has often made it a subject of interest. Photos from past gatherings show the family enjoying activities such as sailing and waterskiing nearby, though the property is distinct from the Kennedy Compound itself.
This remarkable residence includes 13 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, with the main house offering breathtaking ocean views and ample gathering spaces. The guesthouse is equipped with a separate kitchen, four bedrooms, and two self-contained apartments, providing privacy and convenience.
Listing agent Paul Grover highlighted the estate’s grandeur, stating, “As soon as you turn off Irving Avenue and proceed down the driveway, it’s so stately.” He emphasized the dramatic ocean views, noting they extend “right through to the ocean.”
Having been owned by the same family for 25 years, the property last changed hands for $6 million in 2000. Over the past year, the estate has undergone several price adjustments. The Zillow listing describes it as one of the most iconic properties on the Eastern Seaboard, featuring significant upgrades such as a new seawall, a swimming pool, and window replacements.
The estate also offers 410 feet of sandy beach frontage, with meticulously designed grounds by the renowned Olmsted Brothers. Its location provides stunning views of Nantucket Sound, Hyannis Port Harbor, and Great Island. Grover likens the property to a “4th of July house,” highlighting its blue carpentry that evokes a patriotic ambiance.
In addition to its captivating features, the estate is conveniently situated near the West Beach Club, Hyannis Port Yacht Club, Cape Cod Gateway Airport, and ferry services to popular destinations such as Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. This prime location enhances its appeal, attracting potential buyers looking for a luxurious coastal retreat.
