Tragic Crash Claims Lives of Two Sisters in Fresno County
BREAKING: A tragic car crash in Fresno County, California, has resulted in the heartbreaking deaths of two sisters, prompting an outpouring of grief and support from their family. The incident occurred on Tuesday night on Belmont Avenue, just west of Brawley Avenue, when the driver, 21-year-old Angelina Nino, lost control of her vehicle while allegedly speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign.
In a devastating turn of events, Nino was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 14-year-old sister Rayla Piedra was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. A 27-year-old man who was also in the vehicle sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Family members are devastated by the loss, with Lorraine Quinonez, the girls’ aunt, expressing the profound impact of this tragedy. “The weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls,” Quinonez said. “We all helped raise them. I’m just trying to be as strong as I can for my sister.”
Rayla was looking forward to celebrating her 15th birthday on November 8, making this loss even more poignant for the family. The community is rallying to support the grieving family; a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with funeral expenses.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic laws. The California Highway Patrol is looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash and any potential factors that may have contributed to this tragic event.
Next steps: Funeral arrangements for the sisters are currently being planned, and updates will be shared as more information becomes available. The community is encouraged to come together to support the family during this incredibly difficult time.
For those wishing to contribute to the family’s efforts to lay the girls to rest, a link to their GoFundMe will be provided shortly. This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety.
