UPDATE: A man has been charged with multiple crimes after allegedly crashing a stolen truck into a house and fleeing the scene in St. George, Utah. Darwin Julius Lee, age 35, faces serious charges including DUI, receiving a stolen vehicle, and property destruction, following the incident that occurred in the early hours of October 25, 2025.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., St. George Police Department (SGPD) officers responded to reports of a crash near 1200 W and 540 North. Witnesses described seeing a man in a green shirt with long black hair crash an Isuzu NQR truck into a residence before fleeing on foot towards a nearby elementary school.

Officers quickly apprehended Lee, who displayed signs of intoxication including slurred speech, swaying, and bloodied injuries. Authorities report that Lee attempted to deny driving the truck, despite evidence to the contrary, as he requested officers retrieve his vape from the vehicle.

Lee was found near the crash site with visible injuries, including abrasions and blood on his shirt. An open can of Budweiser was discovered inside the truck, which was left in drive at the scene. Eyewitness accounts confirmed that Lee exited the passenger side and stumbled away from the crash.

Further investigation revealed that Lee allegedly sped southbound before crashing into the home, damaging its east corner and sliding glass door. The truck’s registered owner reported that it had been stolen from a parking lot in Washington and was not permitted to be driven by anyone, including Lee.

Due to Lee’s injuries, law enforcement opted not to perform a field sobriety test but secured a warrant for a blood sample, leading to his arrest for DUI. He is currently held at Washington County Jail without bail after being formally charged on October 27.

This incident marks another troubling chapter in Lee’s history, as he has prior DUI convictions in 2011 and 2023, rendering him an alcohol-restricted driver. The charges against him include a second-degree felony for receiving a stolen vehicle, a third-degree felony for DUI, and multiple misdemeanor counts related to the accident.

As this case unfolds, authorities urge the community to remain vigilant. Residents are reminded of the dangers of impaired driving and the potential consequences of criminal behavior. Stay tuned for further updates as the legal process continues.
