UPDATE: The City of Dunwoody has just been recognized as a top-10 city in the 2025 Digital Cities Survey, awarded by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) for its innovative use of technology in public service. This prestigious accolade highlights Dunwoody’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity, governance transparency, and the advancement of digital privacy rights and equity.
Dunwoody, home to 51,844 residents, was particularly praised for its transparency initiatives and community engagement. The award was announced at the National League of Cities “City Summit” held in Salt Lake City on October 15, 2023, positioning Dunwoody as a leading model among cities with populations up to 75,000.
Teri Takai, Chief Programs Officer at CDG, emphasized the significance of this recognition, stating, “What stands out this year isn’t just the technology, it’s the focus on the impact on constituent services.” She highlighted how cities like Dunwoody are leveraging innovation to address pressing issues such as housing, public safety, and community trust.
Dunwoody’s achievements include the launch of an open checkbook, a comprehensive online records portal, and the implementation of SeeClickFix to facilitate service requests. The city is also enhancing communication with residents through new digital signage and various outreach channels.
Dunwoody’s public safety initiatives are particularly noteworthy. The CDG also highlighted a significant transformation in Dunwoody’s IT infrastructure, including a major overhaul of its network and a strategic shift of key systems to the cloud. This was complemented by a citywide business resiliency plan designed to ensure uninterrupted services across various departments. Eric Linton, Dunwoody City Manager, remarked, “This award highlights how our commitment to innovation directly strengthens services for our residents.”
