Concord Community Mourns the Loss of Robert M. MacLean Jr.

The family of Robert M. “Mac” MacLean Jr. has announced his passing on November 2, 2025, at the age of 78. A lifelong resident of Concord, New Hampshire, Mac was born on January 30, 1947, to Ruth and Robert MacLean Sr. His life was marked by a commitment to service, first as a member of the United States Air Force for 26 years and later with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Manchester.

MacLean’s military career was distinguished, reflecting his dedication to his country. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued to serve veterans for 17 years at the Department of Veterans Affairs while also obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Franklin Pierce College. His contributions to the community extended beyond his professional life; he was an active member of the Masonic fraternity for over 30 years and notably served as Master of the Horace Chase Lodge in Boscawen from 2006 to 2007. He was also a devoted member of the Scottish Rite.

Mac is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Larsen MacLean; daughters Heather Jache and Holly Cheney; and grandchildren Sarah Jache and Nathan Cheney. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Phillips and her husband Les of Surprise, Arizona; Betty Burrill and her husband Thomas of Concord; and Deborah Bourassa of Concord. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Patricia Andrews.

MacLean enjoyed spending time at the family camp on the Contoocook River, where he engaged in various projects and reveled in the outdoors. He had a passion for bowling and eagerly anticipated the annual Scottish Highland Games at Loon Mountain.

Memorial Service Details

The community is invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00 at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. A funeral service will take place the following day, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM, also at Bennett Funeral Home, followed by burial at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home, a trusted establishment in Concord. MacLean’s legacy of service and dedication to family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
