Rebecca Gayheart has shared her personal journey regarding a recent lower mini facelift, expressing her views on cosmetic surgery during a candid conversation on the podcast “Broad Ideas,” hosted by Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen. The actress spoke openly about her decision to enhance her appearance with the help of Beverly Hills surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond.

During the episode aired on November 17, 2025, the 54-year-old actress emphasized the importance of transparency when discussing cosmetic procedures. “I’m very open about it because I feel that we have to be … it’s like, why are we trying to pretend like we aren’t aging?” Gayheart remarked. She believes that normalizing such discussions can help reduce the stigma surrounding plastic surgery.

Gayheart’s decision to undergo the procedure was influenced by personal experiences over the past few years. “I’ve had a rough couple of years, and I was starting to — the gravity really hit, like, two years ago, 52. I was like, ‘Wow, this is bad,’” she explained. Specific concerns about her appearance, particularly one sagging eyelid that made her look uneven in photographs, prompted her to consult with Dr. Diamond.

The procedures took place in July, with Gayheart undergoing at least two interventions, including a neck lift. “If they don’t touch anything else, it’s just, like, a neck pull,” she clarified, demonstrating the changes made. While the recovery process was challenging for her, Gayheart acknowledged that it was manageable, especially under the care of Dr. Diamond, whose focus is exclusively on facial procedures. “He has a very soft touch and wants everyone to just look like themselves, but better,” she added.

Navigating her daughters’ reactions to her surgery posed a unique challenge for Gayheart. “The tricky part was my daughters,” she admitted, explaining that she approached the subject with honesty while being mindful of their feelings. “I was home recovering, so they saw, and they went through it with me.” Gayheart reassured them about the decision, stating, “This is possibly going to make me feel better about myself. And I think that’s okay.”

In addition to discussing her cosmetic surgery, Gayheart reflected on the emotional difficulties she has faced in recent years. Her ex-husband, Eric Dane, was diagnosed with ALS in April 2025, a month after Gayheart withdrew a divorce petition she had filed in 2018. The couple has been separated for eight years, and their daughters live with Gayheart full-time. She emphasized the importance of supporting family, even in complicated situations.

“He is our family. He is your father,” she said, stressing the need for dignity and grace during challenging times. Gayheart aims to role model resilience for her daughters, guiding them through their father’s illness while maintaining a positive outlook. “I try to stay optimistic, though, about it all. I’m trying to learn from it and role model for them how to go through something like this, which is really hard.”

As Gayheart continues her journey, both in personal growth and navigating public discussions about cosmetic surgery, her openness may encourage others to embrace their choices regarding aging and self-improvement.
