UPDATE: A 47-year-old man from South Euclid has been arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) following a hit-and-run incident on December 3. The collision occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Mayfield Road, outside the Walgreens store.

According to police reports, the driver of a GMC Acadia informed officers that the other driver, who fled the scene in a white Toyota, appeared to be intoxicated. Authorities swiftly located the suspect’s vehicle at 1443 Richmond Road in front of CVS/Pharmacy. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers confirmed that the driver was indeed under the influence of alcohol. The suspect refused to take a breath test and was subsequently arrested for OVI and hit-skip.

This alarming incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the dangers of drunk driving in the community.

In unrelated incidents, police responded to a variety of calls over the past week. On December 6, loss prevention at L.L. Bean on Cedar Road reported a theft totaling $1,020 involving a 65-year-old man from Cleveland. The investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.

On December 1, a woman reported fraudulent checks written from her business account at The Makeup Institute, totaling $931.64. Authorities are currently investigating this matter, seeking to identify the perpetrator.

Additionally, a distressing psychiatric situation unfolded on December 2. During a 911 call, a woman was heard urging her husband to “put the gun down.” Police responded quickly to the address provided and transported the 51-year-old man to MetroHealth Hospital in Cleveland Heights for evaluation.

Police also addressed a disturbance on Kenton Circle on December 4, where a 56-year-old woman reported her husband, aged 55, was highly intoxicated and out of control. Despite the situation, he declined police assistance to go to a rehabilitation facility.

Finally, at 5:40 p.m. on December 5, staff at Dick’s Sporting Goods reported an attempted theft by three juveniles who fled the store without stealing any merchandise. Police intercepted the boys, aged 14 and 16, nearby, and no charges were filed.

These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges facing the Lyndhurst community, from public safety to mental health issues. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Stay tuned for further updates as investigations continue.
