William S. Ditmer, 80, Passes Away on Thanksgiving Morning
UPDATE: William S. Ditmer, aged 80, died on Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 2025, in Connecticut. His passing marks the loss of a beloved family member and community figure known for his passion for bowling and classic cars.
Born in Carlisle, PA, Ditmer spent much of his life in West Philadelphia before relocating to Connecticut. He dedicated years to his career at Combustion Engineering, where he worked in the logistics department until health issues forced his retirement. The community remembers him fondly as an enthusiastic bowler, participating in numerous leagues at Bradley Bowl.
Ditmer is survived by his son, John Ditmer, and daughter-in-law Michelle Ditmer, two grandchildren, Brian Ditmer and Christina Eargle, his sister Kathleen Ditmer, a niece, Michelle Ditmer, and a great-nephew, Jeffrey Ditmer. He was predeceased by his brother, John Arthur Ditmer, sister, Wendy Ditmer, and his parents, Brig, Bernard, and Freda Ditmer (Malpass).
A memorial service is scheduled for January 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Manchester Citadel Salvation Army Corps, located at 661 Main St, Manchester, CT. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and legacy. Following the service, burial will take place on January 12 at 11:00 AM at Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave, Valhalla, NY.
Ditmer’s family encourages those wishing to honor his memory to consider planting a living memorial or sending flowers as a tribute. His love for family, friends, and community will be deeply missed.
