Virginia QB Chandler Morris Injured, Out for Wake Forest Game
BREAKING: Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris has been ruled out for the remainder of tonight’s game against Wake Forest following an injury sustained in the second quarter. Morris was injured while sliding after a run, marking a critical blow to the 12th-ranked Cavaliers during a pivotal moment in their season.
As confirmed by head coach Tony Elliott during the halftime radio broadcast, Morris will not return to the field. Backup quarterback Daniel Kaelin has stepped in to replace him, raising concerns over Virginia’s chances to maintain their impressive record of 8-1 and 5-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Morris, who has been instrumental in leading the Cavaliers to their best start in 35 years, was injured while attempting to slide at the Cavaliers’ 14-yard line. He was hit hard by Wake Forest defenders Travon West and Davaughn Patterson, with West receiving a personal foul penalty but not being called for targeting. After the hit, Morris remained down for several minutes, before gingerly walking to the sideline and ultimately heading to the locker room.
Importantly, this injury does not seem related to the lingering left shoulder issue that has troubled Morris throughout the season. As a transfer from North Texas, he has revitalized the Cavaliers’ offensive lineup, showcasing his skills through passing, running, and leadership. Earlier this season, he led Virginia to a school-record 700 total yards in a game against William & Mary.
The timing of this injury is critical, as the Cavaliers are in pursuit of a strong finish to the season and a potential spot in the postseason. Fans are left anxious as they watch Kaelin take over in a game that could determine Virginia’s trajectory moving forward.
Stay tuned for updates on Morris’s condition and the Cavaliers’ performance as they strive to overcome this setback and secure a victory against Wake Forest.
