Key Evidence Links Surgeon to Double Murder of Ex-Wife, Husband
UPDATE: Investigators have unveiled a crucial piece of evidence potentially linking surgeon Michael McKee to the shocking murders of his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe, in their Columbus, Ohio, home on December 30. Authorities have confirmed that the gun used in the brutal attack was discovered at McKee’s residence, intensifying the urgency of this already harrowing case.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant stated, “This was a targeted attack. This was a domestic violence-related attack.” Reports indicate that McKee’s vehicle was seen in the Tepe neighborhood shortly before and after the killings. Multiple weapons were found at his home, suggesting a strong connection to the crime.
McKee, 39, is currently detained in Winnebago County, Illinois, approximately 90 miles northwest of Chicago, as he awaits extradition to Columbus for trial. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder. Friends and family have expressed deep concern, with Spencer’s brother-in-law, Rob Misleh, revealing that McKee had threatened Monique’s life multiple times. “Monique was very vocal about being terrified of this guy,” Misleh shared, highlighting the emotional turmoil she endured.
The discovery of the couple’s bodies came after friends and coworkers conducted a wellness check when Spencer failed to appear for work. Distressing 911 audio captured the moment a caller stumbled upon the gruesome scene, urgently pleading for assistance. Thankfully, the couple’s two young children—a one-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl—were found unharmed in the home and are now under the care of family members.
Details surrounding how McKee gained access to the Tepe residence remain unclear, as authorities reported no signs of forced entry. The investigation continues to unfold rapidly, and police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
As this tragic case develops, the community grapples with the profound impact of domestic violence and the heartbreaking consequences on innocent lives. Stay tuned for more updates as law enforcement works diligently to bring justice to the Tepe family.
