West Virginia Secures Commitment from Four-Star Tackle Kevin Brown
West Virginia University made a significant addition to its 2026 football recruiting class with the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Kevin Brown. The announcement came during a live segment on The Pat McAfee Show, marking a pivotal moment for the Mountaineers as they strengthen their roster for the upcoming seasons.
Brown, who previously committed to Penn State in July 2024, reopened his recruitment following the dismissal of head coach James Franklin on October 12, 2023. The offensive lineman from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, holds a composite rating of .9757 from 247Sports, positioning him as the No. 49 player nationally and the No. 5 offensive tackle in the country. His versatility is underscored by his ability to play at tackle, tight end, and H-back, showcasing quick feet and explosive power on film.
The recruitment process for Brown intensified after he reopened his commitment, with West Virginia and Ohio State emerging as the leading contenders. He took an official visit to Morgantown on October 28, 2023, which played a crucial role in his decision-making. His enthusiasm for the Mountaineers was further highlighted when he donned Flying WV gloves during a subsequent game, sharing images on social media that captured the attention of fans and scouts alike.
Brown’s legacy at West Virginia runs deep; his father, Tim Brown, was an offensive lineman for the Mountaineers from 1999 to 2004, playing under coach Rich Rodriguez. This familial connection adds an emotional layer to his decision, as he follows in his father’s footsteps while pursuing his football career.
Throughout his recruitment, Brown received attention from numerous prestigious programs, including Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama, among others. His ability to attract offers from top-tier schools in the Big Ten, SEC, and ACC underscores his potential impact at the collegiate level.
As Brown joins the Mountaineers, his commitment is expected to bolster their offensive line significantly. His combination of size—standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing nearly 285 pounds—and athletic ability positions him as a candidate for a multi-year starting role in college football. Brown’s arrival adds to the excitement surrounding West Virginia’s recruiting efforts as they aim to enhance their competitive edge in the upcoming seasons.
With Brown’s commitment, West Virginia showcases its ability to attract top talent, setting the stage for a dynamic future for the football program.
