Packers Face Steelers with Watson’s Season Debut on Oct. 26
The Green Bay Packers are set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. This highly anticipated matchup features Packers quarterback Jordan Love leading his team against veteran Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is looking to make a strong impression following his recent performances.
In a significant development for Green Bay, wide receiver Christian Watson is expected to make his season debut after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The Packers activated Watson from the reserve/physically unable to perform list on Saturday, paving the way for him to join the lineup for the Sunday night game. Watson has expressed confidence in his readiness, stating, “I’d say I could’ve played last week, too, to be honest.” His return comes after he practiced for the last three weeks, ensuring he is fully prepared to contribute.
Last season, Watson caught 29 passes for 620 yards and two touchdowns, ranking second in the NFL in yards per catch among players with at least 25 receptions. Over the course of his three seasons, the 2022 second-round pick from North Dakota State has made a significant impact with 98 catches for 1,653 yards and 14 touchdowns, in addition to two touchdown runs.
In a further roster adjustment, the Packers promoted defensive lineman Arron Mosby from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the game. Consequently, tight end Ben Sims was released after making appearances in three games this season, primarily as a special teams player. Sims has recorded eight career catches for 63 yards and one touchdown.
As the game approaches, both teams are managing their rosters with notable injuries and recoveries. The Steelers will be without wide receiver Scotty Miller, who is sidelined due to a finger injury. In contrast, Calvin Austin III returns to the Steelers’ offense, adding depth to their offensive strategy against the Packers.
This matchup not only showcases two teams with storied histories but also highlights the personal narrative of Aaron Rodgers facing his former team. The contest promises to be an exciting display of talent and strategy as both squads aim for victory in Week 8 of the NFL season.
Fans can expect an engaging game as Watson’s return adds a crucial element to the Packers’ offensive lineup. The atmosphere at Acrisure Stadium is anticipated to be electric, with both teams eager to claim a pivotal win as they head further into the season.
