NFL’s Most Improved Players of 2025 Shine with Stellar Stats
As the 2025 NFL season wraps up, several players have distinguished themselves as the most improved at their respective positions, showcasing significant growth and impact on their teams. Notably, Drake Maye of the New England Patriots has emerged as a frontrunner for the league’s MVP award following an impressive year.
Quarterbacks Leading the Charge
Maye, who entered the season as a promising second-year starter, has exceeded expectations. The Patriots, under the guidance of head coach Mike Vrabel and new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, aimed to enhance their lackluster offensive performance from the previous year. Maye completed an impressive 71.2% of his passes, throwing for 4,662 yards and 31 touchdowns with only eight interceptions. His efforts have propelled the Patriots to a 13-4 record, marking their first AFC East title since 2019. With a remarkable 90.1 overall PFF grade, he stands among the top quarterbacks in the league.
The running back position saw a notable resurgence from D’Andre Swift of the Chicago Bears. Swift had previously struggled to reach the thousand-yard mark in his career but rebounded under new head coach Ben Johnson. In 2025, he recorded a career-high 1,141 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, significantly contributing to the Bears’ postseason appearance for the first time since 2020.
Breakout Stars Across the Field
At wide receiver, Parker Washington of the Jacksonville Jaguars stepped into the spotlight. Despite the team’s investment in new talent, Washington became quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s preferred target, catching 58 passes for 847 yards and five touchdowns. His improved performance included an average of 2.19 yards per route run, placing him among the top receivers in the league.
Tight end Kyle Pitts of the Atlanta Falcons also had a standout season, catching a career-high 88 passes for 928 yards and five touchdowns. His performance reflected a newfound consistency, making him a valuable asset as he heads into free agency.
On the offensive line, Warren McClendon Jr. of the Los Angeles Rams transformed from a backup to a key starter after an injury to Rob Havenstein. McClendon allowed only one sack and secured a strong 71.4 PFF pass-blocking grade, enhancing the Rams’ offensive efficiency.
Defensively, Quinnen Williams made headlines with his transition from the New York Jets to the Dallas Cowboys. After a challenging previous season, he returned to form with a stellar 91.7 PFF run-defense grade, solidifying his status as one of the league’s top defensive tackles.
The linebacker position saw Divine Deablo of the Atlanta Falcons emerge as a crucial player. After struggling with the Las Vegas Raiders, Deablo achieved a top-15 PFF grade among linebackers, significantly improving the Falcons’ defensive unit.
In the secondary, Antonio Johnson of the Jaguars became the standout safety of 2025, leading his position with an 86.9 PFF grade. Johnson’s remarkable performance included five interceptions and a minimal yards-per-reception average, showcasing his elite coverage skills.
Overall, the 2025 NFL season has highlighted the potential for players to enhance their contributions significantly. The achievements of these individuals underscore the hard work and dedication required to excel in one of the most competitive sports leagues in the world. As the league prepares for the 2026 NFL Draft, fans and analysts alike will continue to watch these players closely as they evolve in their careers.
