AEW’s Tony Khan Supports Rebel After Cancer Diagnosis
In a show of solidarity, Tony Khan, the owner of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has reached out to wrestler Rebel (real name Tanea Brooks) following her recent diagnosis of pulmonary lymphoma. The news surfaced over the weekend, marking a significant moment in Rebel’s ongoing battle with serious health issues.
Rebel shared her diagnosis on social media, revealing that it came after a year of struggling with lung complications that previously went unexplained. Initially treated for what was believed to be cryptococcal pneumonia, her condition was later re-evaluated at the Mayo Clinic, where the more serious diagnosis of cancer was confirmed.
Support During a Tumultuous Journey
Throughout her challenging health journey, Rebel has faced various complications, including a neurological disorder that has affected her mobility and speech. Despite these struggles, she expressed gratitude for the support she has received from the wrestling community.
On social media, Rebel posted a heartfelt message thanking Khan for a thoughtful gift basket he sent her. “Thank you @tonyrkhan for the kind words and gift basket,” she wrote. “Your support means the world to me.” The gesture has been warmly received by fans and peers alike, highlighting the camaraderie that exists within the professional wrestling world.
Following her ongoing battle with an infection, medical professionals will determine the appropriate treatment options for Rebel. She is hopeful that cancer treatment could commence around the start of 2026.
Rebel’s Career and Impact
Known for her previous work in TNA, Rebel has gained recognition among AEW fans for her on-screen partnership with wrestler Britt Baker. Initially joining AEW as a makeup artist, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the company and continues to hold a contract with them.
As Rebel navigates this difficult period, the support from fans, colleagues, and figures like Tony Khan underscores the close-knit nature of the wrestling community. Many are rallying behind her, hoping for a positive outcome as she confronts her health challenges head-on.
