Woodland Rotary Clubs Invite Community to Propose Legacy Projects
The Rotary Club of Woodland is calling on the local community to propose ideas for a significant Centennial Legacy Project, marking the club’s upcoming centenary in 2026. In collaboration with the Woodland Sunrise and Luna Vista Rotary clubs, the initiative aims to create a lasting improvement that benefits the Woodland area for generations.
Aniek Pflager, the president for the 2025-26 term, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, “We want this milestone to mean more than a party. We’re looking for a project that fills an unmet need—something that may not be already planned or fully funded that our community will be proud of in year 100 and year 150.” The clubs are particularly interested in projects that would serve youth and seniors, enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
Project Criteria and Submission Guidelines
The clubs have outlined specific criteria for the proposed projects to ensure they meet the community’s needs and have a long-term impact:
– **Community Impact:** The project should benefit a broad spectrum of Woodland residents, with special consideration for initiatives aimed at youth and seniors.
– **Enduring and Visible:** Proposals should focus on capital improvements or amenities that will have lasting visibility and utility within the community.
– **Feasibility in 2026:** The projects must have a clear path to completion, including necessary permits and partnerships, along with a plan for ongoing maintenance.
– **Collaborative Opportunities:** The clubs encourage ideas that promote partnerships, volunteerism, and co-funding.
Residents interested in submitting a project idea can do so through the Rotary Club’s website at woodlandrotary.org, using the Centennial Suggestion Form. Alternatively, submissions can be emailed directly to [email protected]. All proposals must include a brief description, the intended location, estimated community impact, and details of any prospective partners.
The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2023, providing ample time for community engagement in this significant initiative. The Rotary Clubs of Woodland hope to harness the creativity and passion of local residents to create a lasting legacy that reflects the values and needs of the community.
