Kentucky’s Jeremy Pinnell Unveils New Album “Decades” with Shooter Jennings
Kentucky singer-songwriter Jeremy Pinnell has released his highly anticipated album, Decades, produced by three-time GRAMMY® Award winner Shooter Jennings. The album debuted on October 31, 2025, and marks a significant evolution in Pinnell’s sound, eight years after Rolling Stone praised his music as “hardscrabble honky-tonk at its best.”
Pinnell is set to celebrate this new release with a special album release show on November 1 at The Southgate House Revival in Newport, KY. Following this event, he will embark on a fall tour alongside Jason Boland & The Stragglers, showcasing his new material across various cities.
The album features the new single “Dallas,” described as a rootsy, rockabilly shuffle. The song draws inspiration from a challenging concert experience in Houston, where only one attendee arrived. Pinnell recalls, “He asked to pray for me after the show,” reflecting the existential questions that emerged from that moment.
Decades is more than just a collection of songs; it encapsulates the journey Pinnell has undergone over the past several years. While writing his previous album, Goodbye L.A., he often felt disconnected from his surroundings due to a relentless touring schedule. This new work reflects on the time spent on the road, balancing the urgency of future aspirations with the richness of present experiences.
Pinnell’s songwriting marries the upbeat nature of his melodies with profound, often introspective lyrics. The album traverses various musical styles, from the heartland country-rock of “Save You” to the blues-infused “Too Much Sugar,” as well as the gospel-tinged “Barabbas” and the contemplative “Come Home To Me.”
The recording process took place over a week of live-in-the-studio performances, involving contributions from notable musicians such as Chris Masterson (known for his work with Steve Earle), Ted Russell Kamp (associated with Shooter Jennings), Patrick Keeler (of The Raconteurs), and John Schreffler (who has worked with Duff McKagan).
Pinnell first gained recognition with his 2014 debut album, OH/KY, which was hailed as “mind-blowingly good” by KEXP. His distinct voice and storytelling ability shine through in his guitar-driven songs, which often reflect the complexities of life and emotion. Now, a decade after his debut, Pinnell embraces the freedom to explore new musical territories.
The tracklist for Decades includes:
1. Barabbas
2. Too Much Sugar
3. Save You
4. Standing Still
5. Stuck In The Rain
6. Set Me Free
7. Dallas
8. Come Home To Me
9. We’ve Been Wrong
10. Pink Champagne
Pinnell’s upcoming tour will feature performances in various locations, beginning with the album release show in Newport. The tour schedule includes stops in cities such as Flagstaff, Tucson, and Seattle, allowing fans to experience his new music live.
