Zilliz Cloud Unveils Cost-Effective Solutions for Enterprise AI
Zilliz has announced significant enhancements to Zilliz Cloud, its fully managed cloud service, aiming to provide enterprises with cost savings, improved performance, and enhanced security for artificial intelligence applications. The updates, revealed on October 21, 2025, introduce a tiered storage architecture, cross-region backup capabilities, and a new Business Critical plan tailored for industries with stringent regulatory requirements.
Major Cost Reductions and Enhanced Performance
The updated tiered storage system dramatically lowers storage costs, reducing rates from $0.30 to $0.04 per gigabyte per month—an impressive 87% reduction. This change is particularly beneficial for enterprises managing large datasets; for instance, organizations handling 10TB of data will see their monthly storage expenses decrease from approximately $3,000 to $400. Additionally, compute pricing has been reduced by 25%.
Zilliz Cloud’s new architecture optimizes data storage by utilizing object storage solutions like AWS S3 while employing local SSD and memory as a high-performance cache. Initial production tests indicate cache hit rates exceeding 90%, combining the cost benefits of object storage with the speed of in-memory processing.
Business Critical Plan for Regulated Industries
The newly introduced Business Critical plan expands Zilliz Cloud’s existing compliance certifications, which include SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and GDPR. This plan is specifically designed to meet the needs of sectors such as healthcare and finance. Key features include:
– Readiness for HIPAA compliance in healthcare and other regulated environments
– Global cluster deployments ensuring data residency and minimal latency
– Multi-region replication with one-click failover for enhanced availability
– Point-in-time recovery (PITR) for comprehensive data protection
Starting January 1, 2026, Zilliz Cloud will also standardize storage pricing across major platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, maintaining the low rate of $0.04 per gigabyte per month. The company plans to introduce cross-region and cross-cloud data transfer capabilities, allowing for seamless data management at no additional markup.
Zilliz has also implemented cross-region backup options for dedicated clusters and introduced index build level controls for Milvus 2.6.x clusters. All these updates are available immediately.
Zilliz, the creator of Milvus, the world’s leading open-source vector database, aims to support organizations in building advanced AI applications. The company currently serves over 10,000 organizations worldwide, providing them with a powerful platform for managing unstructured data at scale.
