Platinum Equity, a private equity firm based in Beverly Hills, has reached an agreement to sell Unical Aviation, a provider of aerospace aftermarket solutions, to Satair, an Airbus company. This transaction marks a significant step for Unical, which includes its subsidiary, eCube Solutions, known for its expertise in aircraft storage and disassembly.

The sale follows a comprehensive operational modernization program implemented by Platinum Equity after acquiring Unical in 2021. Over the past four years, the firm has focused on enhancing Unical’s operations, leadership, and growth trajectory.

Jacob Kotzubei, co-President of Platinum Equity, expressed pride in the progress made during their ownership. “We are proud of everything we accomplished at Unical. When we acquired the business, we saw tremendous potential to modernize its operations, expand its position within the aerospace aftermarket and elevate its presence on the global stage,” he stated.

The transaction is expected to be finalized in early 2026. Financial advisory services for Unical during the sale are being provided by Jefferies LLC and Fifth Third Securities, while ReedSmith is acting as the legal counsel for the deal.

This sale is indicative of Platinum Equity’s strategic focus on enhancing the capabilities of family- and founder-owned businesses, allowing them to scale and innovate in competitive markets. The transition to Satair is anticipated to further bolster Unical’s position within the aerospace industry, leveraging Airbus’s extensive network and expertise.

As the aerospace sector continues to evolve, collaborations like this one underline the importance of modernization and strategic partnerships in driving growth and operational efficiency. The acquisition is poised to benefit both Unical and Satair, aligning their strengths for future challenges and opportunities in the global aerospace market.
