Beloved Community Leader Ruth E. Gerardi Passes Away at 100

URGENT UPDATE: Ruth E. Gerardi, a cherished community figure and dedicated volunteer, has passed away at the age of 100. She died on November 9, 2025, in Galway, New York, leaving behind a legacy of service and compassion.

Born on December 2, 1924, in Green Island, New York, Ruth dedicated her life to her family and community. She worked for Trustco Bank in Schenectady for many years and was deeply involved in local organizations. In 1948, she became a vital member of the Galway United Methodist Church, where she served as an officer, choir member, and organized numerous fundraisers.

Ruth was a charter member of the Galway Lioness and was active in the Galway Women’s Club as well as the Galway Senior Citizens. She also contributed her expertise to the Saratoga County Aging Advisory Council, impacting many lives through her advocacy.

Her family and friends remember her fondly for her love of knitting and traveling. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sharyn Kalinkewicz (Gary), goddaughter Pam Neahr (Dave), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Calling hours for Ruth will take place on Wednesday, November 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Galway United Methodist Church, 2056 East Street, Galway. Burial will follow at Galway Village Cemetery.
