Rochester Education Association Donates $750 to Support Families
BREAKING: The Rochester Education Association (REA) has stepped up with an urgent donation to help local families affected by the recent government shutdown. The REA announced today it will donate $250 to Channel One Foodbank, a critical resource for those struggling to meet their basic needs.
The REA’s contribution comes at a time when many families in Rochester, MN are not receiving their SNAP benefits this month, leaving them in a vulnerable position. In addition to the association’s donation, REA members have collectively contributed nearly $500 in personal donations, bringing the total support to $750. This response underscores the urgency of community support during this challenging period.
“Supporting and engaging in our community is at the heart of what we do,” stated Vince Wagner, president of the REA. He emphasized the importance of standing with neighbors in need, especially during difficult times. The REA represents over 1,400 educators within the Rochester Public Schools system and is part of the statewide union, Education Minnesota.
This generous initiative reflects the REA’s commitment to community welfare and highlights the pressing issues many families face due to the ongoing government crisis. The donation will directly assist families struggling to put food on the table, making an immediate impact on their lives.
As the situation develops, community members are encouraged to support local food banks and initiatives that aid those affected by the shutdown. The REA’s proactive stance serves as a reminder of the critical role educational organizations can play in supporting their communities.
Stay tuned for further updates as more information about local support efforts becomes available.
