Khruangbin Releases Re-Imagined Album to Celebrate 10-Year Milestone
UPDATE: Khruangbin has just released a re-recorded version of their iconic debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You ii, to mark its ten-year anniversary. The album, which drops today, November 6, 2025, features fresh interpretations of every original track, showcasing the band’s evolution over the past decade.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, bassist Laura Lee Ochoa expressed the band’s excitement about revisiting the project. “The thought was like, ‘We’ll just do it all over again. And it will be us 10 years later with the same instruments in the same location,’” she said. However, as they approached the release date, the band realized they wanted to reflect on how the songs resonate with today’s audience. “Actually, the kids 10 years later would think about the songs as they are today,” Ochoa added.
The new album isn’t a direct replica of the original. Notably, the opener “Mr. White” has been swapped for “Bin Bin,” a bonus track from the Japanese edition of the original album. This change emphasizes the band’s commitment to evolving their music while honoring their roots.
In addition to the new album, Khruangbin is set to embark on a tour across the United States starting today in Houston, TX. The tour includes stops in major cities such as Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles. Their full schedule is as follows:
