CU Buffs Surge in Second Half to Crush UTSA 88-64
New reports confirm that the Colorado Buffaloes rebounded decisively from their first loss of the season, dominating the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners with an 88-64 victory at the CU Events Center earlier today. The Buffaloes improved their record to 9-1 with a powerful second-half performance, scoring the first nine points after halftime and ultimately outscoring UTSA by a staggering margin.
After a competitive first half, where Colorado led by just 35-32, they unleashed a game-changing 17-2 run that showcased their offensive prowess. The Buffaloes shot an impressive 62.2% from the field in the second half, a stark contrast to their earlier defensive struggles that allowed UTSA to shoot 46.4% in the first half. Colorado’s defense clamped down, holding the Roadrunners to just 33.3% shooting in the final period.
Key player Barrington Hargress led the scoring with a season-high 23 points, hitting five three-pointers and going 9-for-12 overall. Sebastian Rancik also shone, contributing 15 points—12 of which came in the second half—along with a team-high seven rebounds. Bangot Dak added 10 points, showcasing a well-rounded team effort that outmatched UTSA.
The Buffaloes dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Roadrunners 48-32, and displayed superior ball movement with 21 assists compared to UTSA’s 14.
