Ford Recalls Over 163,000 Broncos Due to Driver Seat Defect
Ford has announced a significant recall affecting more than 163,000 Bronco vehicles due to a potential defect in the driver’s seat. This recall, revealed on October 23, 2025, pertains to models manufactured between 2021 and 2023 that may have a loose or dislodged seat frame height-adjust pivot bolt. This issue raises concerns about the safety of drivers and passengers, particularly in the event of a traffic accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has noted that a seat with a dislodged bolt may fail to adequately secure an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Owners of affected vehicles will receive an initial informational letter beginning December 1, 2025, followed by a second letter detailing the repair process. The necessary repairs will be conducted at authorized Ford dealerships at no cost to the vehicle owners.
Details of the Recall and Safety Measures
Ford’s recall notice states that the company has not received any reports of injuries related to this defect. Nonetheless, the automotive giant is taking proactive measures to address the issue. The company encourages affected owners to check their vehicle status by entering their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA website starting from October 28, 2025.
The communication from Ford clarifies that the repair will involve the replacement of the swivel links and bolts. A dedicated customer service line, 1-866-436-7332, has also been established for inquiries regarding the recall. For further details, individuals can visit the NHTSA website and search for recall campaign number 25V721000.
Ford’s Ongoing Recall Challenges
This recall contributes to what has been a challenging year for Ford, which has faced a series of vehicle recalls. According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), Ford has issued over 134 recalls in 2025, surpassing its previous record for recalls in a single year. This situation not only poses economic challenges for the company but also affects consumer trust in the brand’s commitment to safety.
While recalls are not uncommon in the automotive industry, the scale of Ford’s recalls this year has drawn significant attention. Other manufacturers, including BMW, Jeep, and Toyota, have also announced recalls, but Ford’s situation remains particularly notable.
As the situation develops, legal observers, such as Action NS, are monitoring for any potential class-action lawsuits from affected customers. Although Ford has not faced legal claims related to this specific defect yet, the scrutiny surrounding mass recalls often leads to collective legal actions from consumers seeking restitution.
In conclusion, Ford’s latest recall underscores the ongoing safety challenges the company faces and its commitment to addressing these issues transparently. As affected owners await further communication regarding the necessary repairs, the company aims to restore confidence in its vehicle safety standards.
