BREAKING: Bodycam footage released by the Farmington Police Department reveals critical interactions between police and the couple accused of killing 11-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres. The footage documents a police visit on December 29, 2024, due to multiple noise complaints at their condo on Wellington Drive, where Jacqueline’s body was later discovered in the basement.

The video shows officers responding to a noise complaint, marking the only police interaction with the couple before the investigation into Jacqueline’s tragic death. According to Lt. Kyle A. Noddin, police received four noise complaints between September 2024 and February 2025 linked to the residence of Karla Garcia, 29, and her boyfriend Jonatan Nanita, 30.

During the bodycam footage, officers approach the condo, knocking and ringing the doorbell. After about 90 seconds, Garcia answers the door. When asked about the noise, she assures officers, “Everything’s good though,” despite appearing visibly unsettled. She mentions being pregnant, attributing her mood swings to her condition while holding a 3-year-old child.

This footage was released following the unsealing of arrest warrants, which accuse Garcia and Nanita of murdering Jacqueline, who was reported missing and later found dead outside a boarded-up home in New Britain on October 8, 2025. The couple has been charged with murder with special circumstances, conspiracy to commit murder, and intentional cruelty to a child, while Garcia’s sister, Jackelyn Garcia, is charged with related offenses.

The investigation revealed harrowing details about Jacqueline’s treatment. Authorities believe she was subjected to severe abuse, having been zip-tied and deprived of food for extended periods. Court documents indicate that Karla Garcia confessed to not feeding Jacqueline at all in the two weeks leading up to her death, contributing to the young girl’s malnutrition, with her remains weighing only 27 pounds at the time of discovery.

Further disturbing details emerged from the warrants, including allegations that Nanita transported Jacqueline’s body in a 40-gallon tote that emitted a foul odor. A witness, identified as Nanita’s new girlfriend, claimed he picked up the tote from a cemetery in late September, raising alarms about the contents.

Community members reported persistent foul odors emanating from the family’s residence, leading investigators to question neighbors following the discovery of Jacqueline’s remains. The medical examiner’s report indicated that Jacqueline’s body had been in a condition consistent with severe malnutrition, further shocking the community.

As the investigation continues, both Nanita and Garcia remain in custody, facing serious charges while the judicial process unfolds in Torrington Superior Court. The horrific circumstances surrounding Jacqueline’s death have left the community in shock, prompting discussions on child safety and welfare.

Authorities urge anyone with further information regarding the case to come forward as they continue to seek justice for Jacqueline Torres. This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on this tragic case as the community mourns the loss of a young life cut short.
