UPDATE: Significant road closures and construction projects are impacting travel in the Boulder County area from November 1-7, 2023. Authorities confirm that these developments will cause delays, detours, and temporary relocations for commuters and residents alike.

Boulder County is experiencing major construction activities that are set to disrupt daily commutes. The 28th Street improvements project, aimed at enhancing multimodal travel between Pearl and Iris, will lead to the temporary relocation of the Northbound 28th and Valmont Road RTD Stop No. 17992 until December 31. This relocation affects routes 205 and BOLT, making it crucial for riders to plan ahead.

In addition, major work on the 19th Street bridge over Fourmile Canyon Creek is set to commence. This project will close Northbound 19th Street to all traffic between Sumac and Upland. Detours will be in place via Quince, and the work is expected to be completed by April 1, 2024.

The 63rd Street waterline replacement project is also underway, with closures affecting 63rd, Andrus, and 62nd streets between Jay and Valmont. Local access will be maintained, but through traffic is not permitted. This work is scheduled to continue until April 1, 2024.

Moreover, Milling and paving operations on Colo. 7 are anticipated to continue through late October, with full completion expected by December 15, 2023. Expect alternating double-lane closures between 28th Street and Cherryvale Road from 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday to Friday.

Travelers should be aware that the Sugarloaf Road culvert replacement at Betasso Road will also introduce lane closures and a temporary three-way traffic signal, potentially causing significant delays through November. Access to Betasso Preserve remains available.

In addition, the City of Boulder is replacing a waterline on 63rd Street, affecting traffic until February 2024. The project will close 63rd Street between Jay and Valmont, with local access only, while traffic shifts to the east side of the street near the railroad crossing. A full closure between Jay Road and Twin Lakes Road is scheduled from November 6 to mid-November.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is also undertaking safety, mobility, and bikeway construction on Colo. 119 / Diagonal Highway, with completion expected in spring 2027.

In Erie, rehabilitation work on the Prince Lake Dam is ongoing, with the project set to continue through March 2026. While no lane closures are planned, drivers should anticipate brief delays due to construction traffic on 111th Street.

Additionally, lane closures for a traffic signal installation on Erie Parkway and Glacier Drive will take place on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December.

Weld County has announced full closures on WCR 1.5 and WCR 3 for maintenance work, effective 24 hours a day until November 26.

Commuters are urged to stay updated and plan their routes accordingly, as these construction projects are set to significantly impact travel in the Boulder area. For real-time updates, check local traffic advisories and official city announcements.
