Stephen Curry Set to Return Friday Against Timberwolves
URGENT UPDATE: The Golden State Warriors are poised to welcome back superstar Stephen Curry as he is expected to return from a thigh contusion on Friday, December 15, 2023, against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed, “It’s looking good,” following Curry’s participation in a full-contact practice.
Curry has missed the last five games while focusing on recovery, opting to stay in San Francisco during the team’s recent three-game road trip. His absence saw the Warriors struggle with a 2-3 record, leaving them at 13-12 overall. However, the team returns home with a renewed sense of momentum after securing victories in their last two games against Cleveland and Chicago.
After being cleared for practice, Curry participated fully in all contact drills and even engaged in a six-minute scrimmage without any issues. Coach Kerr indicated that Curry will practice again on Thursday before getting the final green light for Friday’s game.
In addition to Curry’s anticipated return, the Warriors hope to see Draymond Green back on the court. Green has missed the last two games due to a foot sprain but is expected to return to practice on Thursday as well. His presence could be crucial as the Warriors aim to solidify their defensive performance, which currently ranks third in the NBA.
“We’ve held four of our previous five opponents below 100 points,” Kerr noted, emphasizing the team’s defensive strength during Curry’s absence.
One significant absence for the Timberwolves will be veteran center Al Horford, who is dealing with sciatica and is not expected to play. This matchup is crucial for the Warriors as they look to improve their standings and gain stability in the competitive Western Conference.
Fans eagerly await this showdown on Friday night, with Curry’s return promising to energize the Warriors’ lineup and restore their offensive firepower. Keep an eye on further updates as game time approaches.
