Price Hikes for PCs Confirmed: Black Friday May Be Last Chance

URGENT UPDATE: Two major PC manufacturers, Maingear and CyberPowerPC, are warning consumers of impending price hikes for new computers, marking December 7 as a critical date for potential buyers. This surge is driven by skyrocketing prices of RAM and SSD components, prompting experts to declare Black Friday as potentially the last opportunity for significant savings.

In an exclusive interview with Wccftech, Maingear’s CEO, Wallace Santos, emphasized the urgency for consumers looking to build or upgrade their PCs. He stated, “We’ve already seen DRAM prices skyrocket due to the shortages and are holding off those price changes for our customers as long as we can.” Santos urges buyers to act quickly to capitalize on current prices before the hikes take effect.

CyberPowerPC echoed these sentiments, announcing via social media that the prices of its gaming PCs will increase due to unfavorable market conditions linked to memory price surges. The company reported that RAM prices have surged by an astonishing 500% while SSD prices have doubled since October. This price pressure is anticipated to directly affect the cost of new gaming PCs, with increases ranging from $80 for a system with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, to $160 for a rig featuring 32GB and 2TB of SSD storage.

As RAM and storage costs rise, this trend is not limited to desktops. Laptop buyers are also cautioned to prepare for significant increases. Santos adds, “I anticipate that the prices will continue to rise and then we will eventually have to increase our lead times as stock and allocation becomes constrained.”

With predictions suggesting that memory shortages could extend into 2027, consumers are urged to consider Black Friday deals as a strategic opportunity. While prices for current stock at Maingear remain stable, the window for purchasing at lower rates is closing quickly.

Experts warn that waiting until after Black Friday could mean facing considerably higher prices, making this shopping period critical for anyone looking to upgrade their tech. The overall buzz indicates that 2026 may witness a full-blown RAM crisis, complicating the purchasing landscape for consumers.

In summary, if you’re in the market for a new PC or components, now is the time to act. With Black Friday right around the corner, shoppers have an urgent opportunity to secure the best deals before the anticipated price hikes hit the market. Don’t miss out on potentially significant savings—act fast while supplies last.
