Palmer Luckey Reveals Urgent ‘China 27’ Strategy for Taiwan Defense
UPDATE: In a striking revelation on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Palmer Luckey, founder of defense startup Anduril, has confirmed the existence of an internal strategy named “China 27”. This strategy prepares for a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan “sometime in 2027,” underscoring the urgency for military readiness in a volatile geopolitical climate.
Luckey articulated the significance of this strategy, stating, “Anything we are working on, anything that we are investing in, needs to be built with the assumption that sometime in 2027, China is going to move on Taiwan.” With tensions escalating, his comments signal a critical moment in military preparedness and defense technology.
The defense entrepreneur acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding China’s intentions, admitting, “I might be wrong on this. It might be never. It might be a longer-term thing.” However, he emphasized the risk involved in underestimating the situation, adding, “Wouldn’t I feel pretty stupid if there’s a gigantic fight and I’ve spent all my money on something that wasn’t ready in time?”
Luckey expressed skepticism about a full-scale invasion, suggesting that a blockade might be a more likely tactic for China. “Even a blockade, the best way to deter that is for Taiwan to have the things that make them a very prickly porcupine,” he stated, underscoring the need for advanced defense capabilities, such as sea mining and missile systems.
In a bold move, Luckey recently traveled to Taiwan to deliver missiles and weapon systems designed explicitly to counter a potential Chinese invasion. He advocates for the United States to remain a global arms supplier while avoiding direct military engagement. “The US should become ‘the world’s gun store,'” he declared, emphasizing the need for a stocked inventory to support allies effectively.
The implications of Luckey’s strategy extend beyond Taiwan, as Anduril has emerged as a significant player in the defense industry, challenging established contractors. The US Army is adapting its procurement process to be more startup-friendly, a shift highlighted by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll on October 13, 2023, when he stated, “We are going to completely disrupt the system that held the Army back for decades.”
Anduril’s recent partnership with Meta to develop next-generation military technology further cements its role in modern defense strategies. The collaboration has yielded a suite of products called EagleEye, which includes advanced helmets and visors capable of displaying real-time battlefield data.
Moreover, Anduril secured a $642 million contract with the US Marine Corps for anti-drone defenses in March, illustrating its growing influence in the defense sector. With a valuation of $30.5 billion as of June, the company is poised for further expansion and innovation.
As global tensions rise, Luckey’s “China 27” strategy stands as a crucial reminder of the need for preparedness in uncertain times. The world watches closely as developments unfold, and the implications of these strategies could redefine military engagement in the years to come.
