Bad Bunny Makes Grammy History; Miley Cyrus & Ariana Grande Snubbed
UPDATE: The 2026 Grammy Awards nominations are officially here, and they feature a stunning lineup of music’s biggest stars! Just announced by the Recording Academy, the nominees include powerhouse talents like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Kendrick Lamar, with Bad Bunny making history as the first Spanish-speaking artist to receive nominations in the three major categories.
Nominations were revealed earlier today, February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles, and the excitement is palpable. Bad Bunny leads the charge with nominations for Album of the Year alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Tyler, the Creator, Lady Gaga, and Leon Thomas. In the Record of the Year category, he competes against top names like Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, and Bruno Mars.
The Song of the Year nominations spotlight Bad Bunny’s hit “DtMF,” along with Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Luther.” The recognition for Bad Bunny marks a significant moment in Grammy history, showcasing the growing influence of Latin music on the global stage.
However, not all artists are celebrating. Both Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus have been noticeably snubbed in the Best Music Film category despite their visual album releases—“Something Beautiful” and “Brighter Days Ahead,” respectively. Yet, both still received nominations in other categories; Ariana for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with co-star Cynthia Erivo and Miley for Best Pop Vocal Album.
In addition to existing categories, this year’s awards introduce two new ones: Best Album Cover and Best Traditional Country Album. A host of exciting new talent is also recognized, with nominees for Best New Artist including Olivia Dean, Katseye, and Addison Rae.
For fans of Taylor Swift, there’s no need to worry about her album “The Life of a Showgirl” not being nominated; it simply did not qualify for this year’s eligibility window and remains a contender for the 2027 Grammys.
The Grammy Awards ceremony is set to take place on February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles, and the anticipation is already building. As fans and artists alike prepare for this momentous event, the stakes are high and the excitement is undeniable! Keep an eye on upcoming developments as the music industry gears up for one of its biggest nights of the year.
