Verstappen Dominates US GP, Narrows Piastri’s Championship Lead
Max Verstappen delivered a commanding performance to clinch victory at the United States Grand Prix on October 22, 2025, significantly cutting into Oscar Piastri‘s lead in the Drivers’ Championship. The Dutch driver led from start to finish at the Circuit of The Americas, following up his earlier success in Saturday’s Sprint race. This win marks Verstappen’s third victory in four races, bringing him to within 40 points of Piastri’s championship lead.
Lando Norris secured second place after executing a late overtaking maneuver against Charles Leclerc of Ferrari. Norris’s teammate, Piastri, struggled throughout the race and finished in fifth position. This result allows Norris to close the gap to Piastri, now just 14 points behind the leader in the championship standings.
Verstappen’s win at the US GP further emphasizes his pursuit of a fifth consecutive drivers’ title. Over just four races, he has managed to reduce Piastri’s lead from an impressive 104 points to a more manageable total. This weekend alone, Verstappen gained 23 points after the McLaren duo faced challenges during the Sprint race, where they were involved in a multi-car collision early on.
The race showcased an improved performance from Lewis Hamilton, who finished fourth and contributed to an encouraging display for Ferrari, as Leclerc managed to break a five-race drought without a podium finish for the team.
As the season progresses, the competition intensifies, and the focus now shifts to the next event at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for the Mexico City Grand Prix this weekend. Fans can catch the action live on Sky Sports F1.
The 2025 Formula 1 season continues to unfold, with the title race heating up as only five rounds remain. The dynamics of the championship will be closely watched as Verstappen, Norris, and Piastri vie for the coveted title.
